Sustainable Off-Grid Lighting Solutions in Nigeria
Component 2: Financial Derisking
“Sustainable off-grid lighting (service) providers in Nigeria are operating and have access to working capital and equipment.”
Component 2 focuses on transferring residual risks and barriers that cannot be fully mitigated under the first component and this involves close collaboration and coordination with existing public and private financial actors, financing initiatives and future partners. The main focus of this component is to ensure that financing for sustainable off-grid lighting (service) providers in Nigeria is catalysed most efficiently and cost-effectively.
This component will incorporate, collaborate with and build upon Government policies and existing or planned funding schemes, especially the REF that has the mandate and operational capacity to launch Calls for Proposals to catalyse investments in off-grid energy access using decentralised solar technologies using a combination of capital grants, and debt and equity financing.
